I don't think Jesus would have liked to see every one of his followers be identical.
But he would have liked to see every one of the human family conform, "put on the new self" and become a follower of his?
i like variety and different opinions and i don't see that in the jw's...... what can this lead to?.

i was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.
No. But sometimes I'm almost expecting a prayer before dinner and then remember I don't do that anymore. :D
there were a few things that i hated about being a witness.. i love music and live concerts.
quite often i'd have to play my music privately or hide an album cover for fear it might "stumble" someone.
i hated worrying whether someone was going to somehow get "stumbled.. regarding going to concerts, it seemed that certain artists only came to town on a meeting night and i'd miss the shows.. what did you hate about being a jehovah's witness?.
Everything; I just didn't let myself fully realise. I knew I'd rather stay at home than go to the meetings or on the ministry, though.
i can only think of one person who actually seemed to have "joy in her heart "on the min when i studied , and even the dubs used to hate being put with this person, it all seems so obvious now that it has nothing to do with a love for god , but doing whats expected of you
Proud? No. Happy? Hardly ever. I believed it, though; at least mostly.
The reality is, based on the many people I've spoken to, is that most hate it, and do very little, which means they don't truly believe it's a lifesaving work.
Good point. But then lots (most?) people don't do things that are obviously life-saving, either.
if there is a god, do you think that the majority of jw's will be saved at armageddon?.
i'm not asking if they have the only true religion, i'm asking if you think they would be saved along with others who do god's will sufficiently to satisfy him.....
If there is a God, do you think that the majority of JW's will be saved at Armageddon?
Why would Armageddon come just because there is a God? If there is a God, it certainly isn't responsible for the literature in the bible so the portions which are used to support various eschatologies are irrelevant to your question.

A "united brotherhood".
Aaargh! I can't get it from where I am! Would somebody be able to buy me a copy please? Obviously I'll pay for the postage and newspaper and send my address via PM. My home address is in Scotland. I'd really like to read this as evolution isn't something I know much about atm. Perhaps if anyone does get a copy they can post here to confirm so that others don't do the same. Many thanks in advance.
Thanks badboy - just off out to get it. :)
i have been lurking here for awhile- i think i first came to this board 8 years ago, a couple of years after i'd walked away from the jws.
i have found that even after all this time there are still things that come up for me, particularly about feeling 'safe' in the world, feeling ok. .
i'm moving back to the forest in a few weeks, due to my disinclination to be around large groups of people and the reactions i have to the toxicity of civilisation.
"throw another shimp on the barbie"
"Let's not."
Great film.

Hi rimfiredancing. All the best with your continuing journey, and congratulations on your engagement!
I have zero- and I do mean zero- empathy and tolerance for abusers. I am no longer a pacifist... ...learning to shoot an arrow and actually hit what I'm aiming at
I wouldn't want to be an elder round your way. ;)
